Unlike older versions that use a heating blade, Terea sticks contain a stainless-steel-coated metal element. The IQOS ILUMA device uses an electromagnetic field to heat this element from within, warming the tobacco without burning it.
4. Are Terea sticks the same as cigarettes?
No. Cigarettes burn tobacco at high temperatures, creating smoke and ash. Terea sticks are heated to a precise temperature to release a tobacco-filled vapor, eliminating combustion.
5. Do Terea sticks contain nicotine?
Yes. Terea sticks contain nicotine, which is naturally present in tobacco and is addictive. They are intended only for adult smokers.
6. Can I use Terea sticks with my old IQOS 3 DUO?
No. Terea sticks are exclusive to the IQOS ILUMA. Using them in older blade-style devices will damage the device, and the stick will not function.
7. Do I need to clean my device after using Terea?
One of the best features of Terea is that it is self-cleaning. Because the sticks are sealed at both ends, no tobacco residue is left inside the holder.
8. How long does one Terea stick last?
Each Terea stick provides an experience similar to a cigarette, lasting approximately 6 minutes or 14 puffs, whichever comes first.

12. Does Terea smell like cigarette smoke?

13. Is there ash with Terea?
No. Because the tobacco is heated rather than burned, no ash is produced.
14. How should I dispose of used Terea sticks?

15. Can I use HEETS sticks in an IQOS ILUMA?
No. The IQOS ILUMA is only compatible with Terea. It will not recognize or heat HEETS sticks.

20. How do I tell a used Terea stick from a new one?

21. Why won’t my IQOS ILUMA start when I insert the stick?
Ensure the stick is pushed in to the correct depth (the Terea logo should be visible). If it still doesn’t start, your device may need a charge, or “Autostart” might be disabled in your settings.
22. What happens if I swallow a Terea stick?
Seek medical attention immediately. Terea sticks contain a sharp metal heating element that can cause internal injury if ingested.
23. Does Terea help with smoking cessation?
Terea is an alternative for adult smokers who would otherwise continue to use tobacco. It is not designed as a cessation tool or a way to quit nicotine.
